what are thoughts?

what is the source of our thoughts ? since they originate in our brain are they considered matter ( chomer) or Ruach? Toda, Orly

To the Questioner,
"According to the holy sforim, our thoughts emanate from a specific part of our soul called "neshama.
Since this part of "neshama" rests on the brain (Tikunei Zohar 53) and the thoughts come from it, it seems to us as if our thoughts are coming from the physical brain.
In reality however, the physical brain is no more than a housing for the neshama; and it is therefore clear that a person's thoughts are Ruach not chomer
