you know I have this daunting responsibility to share something meaningful to such important people who have decided to spend their time this morning to learn hopefully something so as this public speaker and I've been doing this for oh my gosh maybe 30 years now I always try to think is there is there a topic that I could give where I would be sure that every single one of you would get something of great importance from it and so I have a talk and this is the talk I believe all my talks that you're gonna hear today if you join me throughout the day has great significance but if I had to

choose one talk that I would teach the world this is the talk and the reason is because this talk which is based on the Kabbalah now how many of you have heard of the Kabbalah raise your hands I see you've heard the couple up and most of you are familiar with a very famous singer who's studying the couple law and her name is Madan I see how much couple out you already know and I always ask my audiences if you've heard the the latest news break of celebrity couple I have you heard about bracha princie that's Britney Spears yeah Britney Rebbetzin Britney anyways I started studying the couple of

when it was way before it was trendy I started in a strange way when there's a teen and that's a whole other story but what I do want to do is I want you to stand the kabbalah is not an independent religion i've seen articles on the church of the cup of la which i can't imagine anything for other way than the church of the kabbalah the Kabbalah is Judaism but it dresses the inner workings of Judaism right whereby the talmud deals with that what's in the house the kabbalah deals with the wise and the big picture so this morning i want to share with you a secret that I know you're going to be

happy to hear because this secret is really the secret to everything in your life literally and this secret has changed my life now what could be the secret to everything in your life and again I'm talking about the secret to love happiness spirituality success in every single way this is all related to you mastering this secret and the total Jewish experience and the wise guidance that our tradition gives us is all related to living the secret the secret life of God now what could be the secret to everything in your life and what can I possibly say that would be important to everyone in this

room well the secret is you you're the secret and what I want to talk about is I want to talk about you I want to talk about who you are who you really are and I want you to understand that the question that I'm going to address this morning and we don't have a lot of time and by the way I really hope that you'll have some questions for me so I'm going to try my best to save some time so that you can ask me questions but the most important question in your life and I don't think I'm exaggerating here the most important question of your life and I'm sure we've we all asked this question

whether we're conscious of asking this question or not but the most important question we ask in our life is what is the source of our genuine self worth if we can just feel good about ourselves then everything will flow from there in our lives but to access the source of genuine self worth you got to get in touch with who are you and that's what I want to talk about who are you and when you discover who you are you will encounter the mysterious ecstasy of living the secret life of God so let's start so who are you who really argue so a number of years ago one of my students have an

organization called Israelite is RA L IG HT which by the way we have a website that you might want to take a look at and also I'd be happy for you to have my email address and anybody please if you'd like to write me I'll do the best to respond to you in any way I can be of help but a number of years ago one of my students was over for Friday night dinner for Shabbat dinner and she was you know talking and she had mentioned in passing that her mother was in Japan all right so I said to her well what's your mother doing in Japan and she said well my mom she's she's she's looking for herself

okay she's looking for herself in Japan which makes sense if you Jewish you know like why go to Israel unless you can get a free trip for birth right but other than that go to Japan so okay fine that's not unusual mothers looking for herself in Japan but my daughter who's Israeli and she was eight years old and my daughter understands English but not incredibly well so when she hears English she translates it into Hebrew in her head and I see that she's really struggling with this she's trying to figure out what this girl just said about her mother and she turns to me and she says I'm a Miami

daddy what did she say so now I have to take this very familiar phrase EEMA Sheila her mother he be upon your plan is Japan right she's in Japan Lima capacity' that's mom and she is looking for herself and again inside the mind of an 8 year old kid right my daughter his eyes grew wide with worry and went oh whoa I suddenly realize how scary that is right her mother's in Japan looking for herself how do you lose yourself in Japan right I mean what she was in a hotel she checked out of the hotel and she's walking out tell myself myself where did I put myself I could've sworn I packed it my

purse might oh I mean the last time I saw myself was in the mirror of the bathroom maybe I'm still there right so she runs back to the reception excuse me but I I think I left myself in the room oh we're sorry ma'am that rooms being cleaned out but myself I'm looking for myself do you understand how crazy this is people are looking for themselves how can you be the subject than the object of the very same sentence but we talk this way all the time people like themselves who's the you that likes you sadly enough there might be more people who dislike themselves who's the you that doesn't like

you or what about this I was on the west side of Manhattan anybody here from New York City oh you're so lucky okay nobody all right I'm not from New York City either I'm actually from Toronto Canada if you detect the Brooklyn accent that's because I'm a Dahlia but other than that I speak the Queen's language so I was in that Hatton and I went into a supermarket and a fella walked in there he's drunk and high and he starts yelling I'm gonna kill myself I'm gonna kill myself I'm gonna kill myself imagine if someone was walking there and hearing rabbi Aaron singing that saying this right that

might not sound too good so I'm not used to this guy's scream he's gonna kill himself and sadly enough in New York City nobody paid attention right this guy's scream he's gonna kill himself nobody paid attention except the management management paid attention called the police and policeman comes in tries to calm this guy down you guys screaming I'm gonna kill myself so the policeman tries to engage in a discussion and says now why are you gonna kill yourself and it got shocked he said well uh well cuz because my mama hates me and my Papa hates me and you know quite frankly I hate me so I'm

gonna kill myself so policeman says but what do you hope to accomplish if you kill yourself it's the guys thinking remember he's either drunk or high he goes well because when I kill myself I'm gonna be happy yeah I'm gonna be real happy when I kill myself so the policeman says but listen to what you're saying if you kill yourself you're going to be dead the guy one what yeah yeah and if you're dead how will you know you're happy you're dead and the guy said what wait what you mean if I kill myself I'm gonna be dead and peace man said that's right and if I'm dead how will I know I'm happy I'm

dead and the policeman said that's right and the guy went oh man I can't even kill myself and be happy now who did he think was going to survive his death so I want to share with you something from our mystical masters I would call this the map of your psyche or the structure of your soul because what I want to share with you is really my favorite topic I call it me myself and I Oh where's me here's me got that me myself and I who's the me who's the self who's the I if you can get this system it's amazing how this is going to change your life so let's talk about the self who's the self

according to our tradition the self is the soul you are a soul you don't have a soul that's just a mistake to speak that way but we speak that way my soul my body but you don't really have a soul you are a soul I'm a soul talking to you you are souls but as souls you come in this world and you play a character the soul is the self just like we talked about myself you don't have a self you are a self you don't have a soul you are a soul and you as a soul come into this world plays where's my map ah my map there you go lost myself okay there we are right you are a soul and you come into this

world to play a character that's you me me everything you can describe about yourself right is the character you play but you are a soul right just like an actor comes into this world to play a character you are an actor and you are playing a character in other words I'm not really Rabbi David Aaron I'm a soul and I've come into this world in this life and in this life I am playing a character called rabbi David Aaron Robby David in is a short redheaded rabbi actually I look much taller on that screen I like that right short rabbie redheaded rabbi born in Canada born to a survivor big part of

the script of my character that I play very philosophical mystical whatever that's my character okay but I'm not David Aaron I'm a soul and this is the good news from the Jews you're not gonna die souls don't die you are not going to die I am NOT going to die now don't get me wrong rabbi David Aaron is going to die now I hope that I am blessed to play Rabbi David Aaron for 120 years or even more I'm fine with that too but you have to understand that our tradition teaches is that death is an illusion you don't die because you are a soul you come into this world you play a character it's like

an actor like only imagine an actor gets a script and he's very excited he got this fabulous part in this major major movie and then he seasoned scene 6 that he dies oh my gosh well he runs up to the director producer says excuse me you got the wrong guy III can't play this part well why not well I see in scene 6 that I'm gonna die and I really I have no intention of dying I I have a long career and you know I'm hoping to do a lot of movies well you're not gonna really die your character's gonna die you're going to get an Oscar and get another part right but you see people take their

character just a little too serious like one actor Heath Ledger who took his character too serious and took his life your soul you come into this world to play a character let me ask you a question how many of you here can honestly say that you are not the same person today that you were five years ago say I how's that possible how could you not be the same person you were five years ago you see you are a soul and the character hey the character's gone then the character right the character died the character is evolving you know the other day I found a notebook in my office and I'm reading

through this notebook I I don't recognize whose handwriting this is and I don't recognize what's even written here in terms of the content and then I see on the front of the notebook it says David Aaron right someone put my name on their notebook it was me I as me as a character evolving but as a soul there's something stable and this fast evolving character how about this do you recall perhaps when you were a child did you ever ask this crazy question I know I did who would I have been if my mother would have married another man what do you think there's everything about that you thought

about my mother also I'm just joking right who would have been if my mother would have married to another man what mean you wouldn't be you know I would have been myself but I would have possibly been born blonde maybe I would have been born with a higher IQ right but there is this deep sense of a self that comes in this world and plays a character okay but don't confuse your self-worth with your character your characters your money you could lose that your characters your great looks you could lose that your character is your fabulous towel you could lose that if your self-worth is based on

your character then you're basing your self-worth on that which you know could go like that so then what is the source of genuine self-worth who can I really rely on in terms of my feeling truly good happy energized with Who I am so for that we've got to go to the I who is the I you are a soul you come into this world to play a role a character you might have played multiple characters in reincarnated lives right in my last life I could have been Jackie Stein in my next life if I have to do that who knows I might be the chief rabbi South Africa all right who knows right but I'm a soul playing

a character but what's a Saul what is a soul to understand the soul you've got to climb the ladder and experience the I now what I'm about to share with you is I think for most of you radically different than what you've ever heard before but this is what our mystic mats masters teach us the eye is Hashem ah I just put a shim on the port okay Hashem oh you're missing the eye yeah I'll get the eye down here ah the eye is a shim you see most people think God is some guy in the sky somewhere over there in heaven doesn't have a body almighty omniscient and has a bit of a problem with control I

came up with a lot of rules and regulations specifically the kinds of things that we would actually enjoy doing if he wouldn't get in the way God some being over there but that's not what our deeper sources teach us in terms of who really is God you know there's a cute little story a little boy he's drawing he's in kindergarten grade 1 he's drawing madly teacher comes up to me says Jonny what are you drawing he says I'm drawing a picture of God she says what but Jonny nobody knows what God looks like he says well when I'm finished they will easy the Jewish people came to the world to tell the

world that there is no image of God but people think there's no image of God because we can't imagine God but the reason why we can't imagine God is because God is the source of all consciousness because when we say God we're talking about the ultimate whole self the great eye and you and I are rays of the great eye if God were the Sun each and every one of you as a soul is a ray of God in the world playing a character in this world the first Russian astronaut when he went into outer space he was asked do you see God and he said no but I do not see God well what did they think he's going to

see but it's not he's be driving in his rocket ship suddenly two huge eyes peer out of outer space waving hi I am God what took you so long right that's for children to think that God is some guy in the sky but we deserve an adult version of the depths of our tradition and God isn't some guy in the sky there's a cute comic strip Calvin and Hobbes Hobbes is a toy tiger Calvin is a little boy they have these dialogues between each other Hobbes turns to Calvin's say Calvin do you believe in God Calvin's got his hands behind his back with this kind of philosophical look on his face he says well

somebody's out to get me that's how he knows there's a God somebody's out to get me I remember a student of mine walked into class he was wearing a t-shirt right and the t-shirt said Bambi meets Godzilla and was a picture of this huge foot of Godzilla that stomped on Bambi I started to think isn't that interesting the name of that monster Godzilla I think a lot of people think that Judaism is talking about Godzilla we met Godzilla at Sinai who's God what is God's secret so I want you to stand what happened at Sinai not just Indaba by the way I was fooled I was called and asked to come to

speak at Sinai and ABBA and I was so excited because I thought dhaba was some exotic place in South Africa I said Wow Sinai and Taba I told my wife I'm going to Taba what's there I don't know probably fishing and I snorkeling I don't care about Jews I'm gonna go Taba fishing huh I know I did what's in Taba right there was last time with South Africa I saw there was another in dhaba said I guess a lot of things happen down there right but what happened at Sinai what happened it's Sinai what does it mean to hear the voice of God well I I I remember hearing the voice of God I bet you I heard the

voices go at the same time you heard the voice of God it was when I saw the Ten Commandments did you see the Ten Commandments that's why I heard the voice of God right I heard the voice of God I was a kid I think it was Passover night we were watching 10 commandments you know eating crackers and things like that and I heard the voice of God only later on did I realize what my responsibility for the producer the director to determine the voice of God what does God's voice sound like what are we here at Sinai who did we meet at Sinai so imagine the auditions for God's voice in walks a woman the

director producer well we know what are we gonna do oh my gosh oh we're sorry ma'am this is a voice for God she goes okay she walks out right and comes another fellow he's gonna audition for God's voice all right he gives the given the Ten Commandments I am the Lord your God who took you out of Egypt oh no that's Disney that's Mickey Mouse please we need a God voice in walks a fellow I am the Lord your God who took you out of Egypt now that's a god voice all right sign them up first of all everybody knows that God is from England right right obviously has a loud booming oppressive kind of

voice you know what our mystic masters tell us the sound of God's voice was was your voice you heard your voice at Sinai you heard your voice we not only heard our voice but the divine spoke to us through us and we heard our self speaking because the Kabbalist teaches that God is our self now I'm not talking about myself yourself I'm talking about ourselves there's one self one ultimate consciousness one self that was is and forever will be all there ever was which is the youth behave above the hey which when we see that you have of a we say Adonai who is we don't believe in God not if God is

some guy in the sky flexing his muscles and trying to control us and seeking obedience constantly rather at Sinai when we heard a Nokia share melikhaya we experienced that there was one enoki oneself one consciousness and all of us every single Jew every single human being every single creature is an expression array of an aspect of this one universal self and that one universal self we experience as Hashem all there ever was is and ever will be el oaxaca the source of all your powers you and I this very moment are connected to God and this secret life of God is you there's something about

God that seeks to become present in each and every one of you and all you have to do is get your ego out of the way but that's for a little bit later talk alright get your ego out of the way you can experience this to this very second you know I have to get people tell me you know rabbi this is my life and you know I can do what I want maybe there's a god maybe there isn't but I you know it's not relevant to me so I said well let's do this little experiment I'd like to do that with you tonight this morning just a little experiment this is our life let's see that I'm gonna ask everybody in

this room just for five minutes if you wouldn't mind just turning your hearts off but just for just for five minutes III won't turn mine off so I can tell you what time it is and after five minutes you can all turn your hearts back on right that's crazy right you can't turn your heart off and on at will but if that's true if you can't turn your heart off and on it will then that means you're not beating your heart and if you are not beating your heart well then who is well whoever that is I suggest we stay in good contact okay now what about my mind this is my mind I can think as I please

let's just do this experiment we don't have much time just three minutes okay we're gonna turn our minds off for three minutes I'm gonna ask you to also stop thinking for three minutes and then I'll let you notice start thinking of course you can't stop thinking you can calm your mind but you're always thinking what do you think is your choice but that you think and that you have no choice is this really your mind what about your freewill that you're forced to have how free is your will what you choose is your choice but that you choose is that interesting choice is forced upon you this very

moment there are seventeen muscles that are moving in perfect coordination in my face for every syllables that come out of my mouth first of all I don't even know where this place in this little face for seventeen muscles you know what I have no clue how I'm doing this I'm talking I'm moving I have no clue how to do what I do is this me little redhead Rabbi David Aaron is this self soul or is this a particular expression of the great eye the one eye that were all part of realize is one of the great revs of our century said that with every move you make and every breath you take he's not just

watching you okay that's the stinger Rebbe man okay what's the safety life of God let's go over it you are a soul you come into this world to play a character but you're not your character you play a character your character is important your soul what's a soul a soul is that he preferred to as a fella Kelo calm him out a part of God an aspect of God array of God and who is God God is the self the ultimate consciousness this universe is an ocean of consciousness that we are all waves beautiful waves I especially like South African waves right civilized waves right that just surge up and

appear and dialog and celebrate this secret of just being alone being at all your soul you're playing a character is SOLAS array of God you know who you really are and you know who you really want to be because that's who you really are you're someone you're someone you want to be someone you want to be treated like a someone will you deserve to be treated like a someone you know why because you are a someone you're some of a one there's a one consciousness is a oneself and you are some of that one you are a masterpiece you are a masterpiece you are a piece of the master and you know it's

even more important that you should know that the person next to you is also a piece of the master and every single human being you meet you treat like a someone and then we'll all experience ourselves as part of the one and then it's gonna be awesome thank you very much I rabbi my question is if we're all part of one whole what is the distinction of a Jewish soul excellent excellent the question is what's unique about that you wish so we according to our Kabbalistic tradition see all of mankind is a body right and the soul penetrates the entire body correct but when the soul penetrates into

the heart then the power in the eat within the soul of heartfulness so to speak and whatever heart does is manifest when the soul enters into the fingers then the power of movement movement is manifest when the soul enters into the power of the stomach then the power of digestion becomes manifest our sages teach us that within the body of all of mankind the Jewish people are the heart and that the importance of the entire world lies on us because the heart although a small muscle is responsible for injecting lifeforce into the rest of the body so it's not better or worse it's just about what

part of the body and what aspect of the universal soul becomes manifest in the Jewish people and that's that's what's unique right just like imagine electricity well right now there is all these appliances right now there's a camera and there's a you know there's a computer and then there's lightbulbs and there's air conditioning they're all plugged into electricity so let's say the electricity is I am this the one self and that I am this is now flowing into all these different devices and and and and appliances so when the IM this flows into the camera then the power within i am-ness of

filming now becomes manifest but when I am this flows into a light bulb then I am light included within I am this becomes manifest and so on and so forth every appliance but we're all plugged into one electricity one consciousness one self that's what we love why is this so special but 3,000 of us are together we sense the presence of God here because we sense that we're part of a greater self and that's the search and that's the ecstasy of feeling God in your life that you are part of one greater self that transcends time and space what's the relationship between the me and the self by the

way I hope they've got it available at the bookstore cuz this talk is part of my recent book called the God powered life and if you really want to understand this talk in the implications of this talk get it or get it on Amazon called the god powered life so there's a lot more to share you know I just had very limited time but what I want you to stand is we go back to the electricity metaphor right your character in this metaphor would be let's say you are what's your profession you're an engineer so what device do you generally use in your life oh okay let's say you're a calculator okay so

when electricity the divine I am this flows into the character called calculator well then the power of calculating becomes manifest then that would be the soul you are the power of calculating that becomes manifest reflected in the kind of character you play okay and therefore without the power the calculators dead the characters dead the bodies dead but there's so much that you discover about yourself and your connection to the one self God through the character that you're playing what happens is that the me can interfere with the connection between the I and the self right because you

start thinking that I am me and so the self drops into the character becomes trapped in the character and the character begins to almost create not almost it severs the experience of the connection between the self and the AI and all of Judaism all the commandments is the physics of consciousness how to align you as a soul with the one self the one soul the soul of all souls God write and direct your character for the purpose that I will talk about my next talk which is living on purpose why on earth are we here so that was my little and hint right if you want to join me for the next talk

okay the question is conversion you know what about a convert so one of the positions on the convert is that this person was actually a Jewish soul and in a previous life they were playing a Jewish character but for whatever reason they were reincarnated and now that saw was given a non-jewish character because in this life there particular fixing and learning was to now choose to live as a Jewish soul and redefine their character in the Jewish way okay that's one approach to conversion rapa if each one of us is a ray of Hashem then how do you explain the evil people in the world and people

who really just we can't reconcile with hashem and being made in the image of hashem because i same supposed to be all good right well that's first of all i hate to be self-promoting but my next class would address that in a more thorough way but let me just respond a little bit if there's somebody evil then the reason why they're evil is because they're self-deluded they forgot that they are array of God and they forgot that you and I are array of God and all those enemies for a history that have tried to kill the Jewish people is because sadly they've totally forgot who we are and they

forgot that there's just one God one self and we're all expressions in different colors in the spectrum of that one light so what happens when a person is so lost in their character and so sure that their whole self-worth is their character and every other character in this world is their competitor right or is their opponent a great threat to them so then we need to help them come back to themselves we kill them right kill them only if they're trying to kill us but if somebody's trying to kill you then you have to kill them not you you don't kill them out of hatred right you kill them out of

tremendous love I know it'd be hard to convince them you say excuse me I'm about to kill you no don't take this personally it's not about you it's just that you are a ray of God and you are so deluded and I've been trying to talk to you and we've been trying to be a good example but somehow I think I need to release you from this villainous character so you can wake up to your true self and realize that you and I are different parts of one body so yeah there are evil people but the difference being an evil person the righteous person is consciousness a righteous person lives with this sense

that God is one there is one self we are all raised we are all parts of this oneness but an evil person is also connected to God but that evil person doesn't know that doesn't think that doesn't talk that way doesn't act that way and we pray that they do true vow we pray that they come back to themselves but if they don't and they're threatening us then we have to protect ourselves and we have to give them a ticket to self-awareness right in the next world okay who determine which character you're going to play in your life not sure you're all gonna like my answer you did you picked your

character the Talmud says that we were all created according to our will and that really you were kind of like your soul and you picked you said yes I want to play a character I'm I picked I said yes I want to play a character a son of a survivor yes I I see that in my script I'm gonna wake up in the middle of night to my mother having nightmares of concentration camp I know what psychological impact that will have on me by the other hand I also know that that's what's going to empower me to be a be a deep thinker with a deep passion to do something for the Jewish people okay I see in the

script I'm gonna be short hmm can we know can't change that red hair you know being a redhead isn't easy you know when you grow up they call you carrot top you know all right and the only answer I had to that is the tops of carrots are green all right what could you say to that but I picked this character all right and each and every one of you with all the problems right the mother of the father of the issue that whatever it is before you came into this world you said I want to play that character because I know that if I play that character well then I will find the ultimate meaning of Mike
